Dufailloux

Dachshund standard smooth breeder

Dachshund from Dufailloux

Dufailloux is a family oriented breeding programm.

That is to say that our dogs are members of the family, sharing our home and are not kennel dogs.

We have one or two litters a year, depending on our own preferences and if there are sufficient requests from potential new homes. Our dachshund must be reserved in advance because before seeing dachshund puppies we must be sure that this breed is really the breed for you. It will be our pleasure to meet with you, speak with you, and to provide documentation and photos of our dachshunds. Often you will find that we ask more questions of potential new owners that they do about our dachshund ... Our aim is to be honest and all we want is to place our puppies with good families and hope for 10 to 15 years of happiness for both owner and dog.

Our dachshunds are all champions and are descendent from champion lines, that is to say that our puppies are excellent quality, both physically and temprement-wise . We spend a great deal of time and energy in the socialization of our puppies in order to guarantee puppies that are well-equilibrated and more affectionate. Our puppies dachshund are guaranteed for a period of one year against any congenital malformations and we like to keep track of our puppies after they go to new homes. All our puppies are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club.

Our goal is to develop quality dachshund puppies with a stable temprement and the most cordial possible in order to live long and happy lives with their adoptive families.

The dachshund, a breed of dog robust and intelligent, is physically low built with a long, sleek body.

General Appearance of Standard Smooth Dachshund:

Low to ground, short-legged, long-bodied, but with compact figure and robust muscular development, with bold and confident carriage or head and intelligent facial expression; conformation preeminently fitted for following game into burrows. In spite of his shortness of leg, in comparison with his length of trunk, he should appear neither crippled, awkward, cramped in his capacity for movement, nor slim and weasel-like. The weight of the dachshund standard is between 18 and 30 pounds. Added to this, his hunting spirit, good nose, loud tongue, and small size render him especially suited for beating the bush. His figure and his fine nose give him an especial advantage over most other breeds of sporting dogs for trailing.

Special Characteristics of of Standard Smooth Dachshund :
Hair: Short, thick, smooth and shining; no bald patches. Tail: Gradually tapered to a point, well but not too richly haired; long sleek bristles on the underside are considered a patch of strong-growing hair, not a fault. A brush tail is a fault, as is also a partly or wholly hairless tail.
